Aufgrund der intrazellul\u00e4ren Sch\u00e4digung der Erythrozyten ist die Erkrankung potenziell lebensbedrohlich und erfordert eine rasche labordiagnostische Abkl\u00e4rung \u2013 bevorzugt per <strong>PCR und Blutausstrich<\/strong>. Wir sehen diese Erkrankung mehr und mehr auch bei Tieren ohne Reisehistorie.
