Title: „E coli infections of the urinary tract in dogs“
Abstract: Virulence genes of uropathogenic E. Coli of human origin were compared with
isolates from dogs. 56 urine samples from dogs with urinary tract infections were
xamined bacteriologically. In 46 samples (82%) just E. Coli could be isolated, in additional 10
samples (18%) E. Coli was identified together with different bacteria. 46 out of the 56 isolated
E. Coli strains 82% ) incorporated virulence genes known from human E. Coli strains.
The genes papC, pap E/F, sfa, hly, aer and cnf1 could be identified, afa1 was not detectable
in any of the examined strains.
